Day 1: Orientation

A quick update tonight. It has been an exhausting first day. A day of introductions and talks from the Faculty and regular opportunities to get to know the others on the course has left my mind buzzing with information, ideas and advice, not to mention all the names! Hopefully it will all settle as we get into the swing of the next couple of weeks.

There was so much to take in and there is already so much to do! For tomorrow I need to bring in a monologue for my radio class (really looking forward to those) and prepare a presentation on myself to be filmed for a Voice class. I’ll also get a chance to road test the black tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt I bought for our first movement class. Looking ahead I already have a play to read and a speech to learn for Friday. They weren’t kidding when they said this was going to be intense.

Overall, though, today was a good way of breaking us in. It was good to be reminded too that everyone is in the same, rather nervous, boat! There were only a few acting, vocal and physical exercises to do, including some shoulder massaging (which is clearly something I am going to have to get used to quickly…!) but nothing too stressful or strenuous.

Better go; early start tomorrow!
